WHO IS THIS WINE COURSE FOR?
This program is aimed at professionals and beginner enthusiasts who wish to better understand the world of wine, oenology, and tasting. This training provides an introduction to wine terminology, tasting methodology, and basic knowledge of the viticultural and winemaking universe.
This training teaches the basic knowledge required for wine service and advice, essential for starting a career in wine sales or service (restaurants, wine bars, wine shops, etc.). It is the perfect introduction to begin professionally and gain the confidence needed to handle customer requests.It is also an ideal introduction for any curious wine lover wishing to master the fundamentals of oenological tasting and food-and-wine pairings.
ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS FOR THE COURSE
- Be curious and eager to understand wine
- No prior preparation or prerequisites recommended
Classic Formula : 1 day – 8 hours of classes (including the exam) in one session.
Lunch Formula: UNIQUE: On-site lunch included in the package. The lunch is specially prepared on the day, on site, by our partner chef LaboM, to put food-and-wine pairings into practice. A menu with specific flavors that will illustrate the key principles of pairing dishes with wines.

WSET1 PROGRAM
- Wine vocabulary and tasting method using the systematic approach to oenological tasting
- The main types and styles of French wines
- The main grape varieties and their characteristics
- How to store and serve wine
- The key principles of food-and-wine pairings (Educational menu during Lunch sessions, flavor workshop during Simple sessions)
- The major French wine regions (appellations)

Classes are led by an expert trainer in oenological tasting, certified by the WSET and a wine professional (oenologist or sommelier). Meet our trainers.- A course booklet highlighting key points, learning objectives, tasting sheets, and self-assessment exercises
- Lectures and discussions between participants and the expert trainer
- Educational lunch included, prepared on site by a chef: food-and-wine pairings (Lunch sessions only, see dates)
- Individual and group knowledge assessment exercises
- Aroma recognition workshop (varietal aromas, aging aromas, faults, etc.)
- Flavor recognition workshop (acidity, tannins, alcohol) and understanding their interaction in the mouth
IMPORTANT : To provide the best possible support to students, classes are deliberately limited to no more than 15 participants.
WINE TASTING FROM AROUND THE WORLD
Around ten wines tasted, from major vineyards in France and around the world, selected for their quality and representativeness of the typical characteristics of the main grape varieties and appellations.
ASSESSMENT AND QUALIFICATION
At the end of the training, candidates will be assessed on their knowledge through an exam. The test is closed-book and consists of a 30-question multiple-choice questionnaire (MCQ). It lasts 45 minutes and takes place at the end of the training day.
To pass, the candidate must answer 70% of the questions correctly.This qualification is strongly recommended for successfully applying to the WSET® Level 2 training.

Professional Training (OPCO) or Pôle Emploi (AIF): Oenovino WSET trainings are recognized by the industry and eligible for funding.
The WSET1 is no longer eligible, since 2022, for funding via the personal training account (CPF).
